How Geethas Works With Farmers to Bring Quality Turmeric to Families
When you pick up a bottle of Geethas turmeric powder, it is easy to think of it simply as another ingredient in your kitchen. But behind every bottle of Geethas Turmeric is a longer journey.
It begins with the farmers who grows the turmeric, continues through harvesting and post harvest handling, and ends with the processing and quality checks that prepare it for your kitchen. At Geethas, we believe that quality cannot begin at the final stage of production. It has to begin much earlier, at the farm itself. That is why our relationship with farmers is an important part of how we bring turmeric to families.
Quality Begins at the Farm
The quality of turmeric depends on several factors, including the variety, growing conditions, cultivation practices and how the harvested turmeric is handled. Geethas works with a network of more than 1,000+ farmers who cultivate high curcumin turmeric through responsible agricultural practices. The turmeric used in our products is sourced from non GMO farms, with a focus on maintaining quality from cultivation onwards.
We cultivate IISR approved turmeric with a curcumin content upto 6.5%.
For us, working with farmers is not simply about sourcing a raw material. It is about building a system where the people growing the turmeric are an important part of our journey.
Working Closely With Farmers
A strong turmeric supply chain starts with a strong relationship between farmers and the people who eventually bring their produce to consumers. Geethas follows fair trade practices and provides guaranteed returns, along with yearly price increases for quality supply. The brand also places special focus on women farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations, creating opportunities that go beyond simply growing turmeric.
This farmer led approach is part of the larger vision behind Geethas: building a turmeric ecosystem where quality, sustainability and farmer empowerment can grow together.
Why Farmer Practices Matter
The journey of turmeric does not end when it is harvested. What happens after harvesting can also influence the quality of the raw material.
At Geethas, post harvest processes include several quality checks. The turmeric is also checked to maintain purity and consistency before it moves into further processing.
This attention to post harvest handling helps create a more controlled journey from freshly harvested turmeric to the products that eventually reach consumers.
From the Farm to the Processing Unit
Once the turmeric reaches the next stage, it goes through carefully managed processing. Geethas follows processes that include cleaning and double cleaning, with strict quality checks at different stages. Each turmeric lot is lab tested and traceable, helping maintain consistency from batch to batch.
The focus is not simply on producing a bright yellow powder. It is about maintaining the quality of the turmeric while preparing it for everyday use.
Quality Preserved at Every Step
How turmeric is handled after harvest matters just as much as where it comes from.
At Geethas, we believe the quality of turmeric should be carried through every step, from the farm to the final product. We take care to preserve the natural quality of the turmeric without adding artificial colours or chemicals during processing. We also retain the turmeric in its natural form, without extracting curcumin, one of its key naturally occurring compounds. This approach allows us to maintain the quality of the turmeric we source while keeping its journey from farm to consumer as simple and transparent as possible.
Why Traceability Matters
When you buy a food product, knowing where it comes from can give you a better understanding of what you are actually consuming. Traceability helps connect different stages of the supply chain, from the source of the raw turmeric to its processing and final product.
At Geethas, every turmeric lots are lab tested. This allows us to maintain greater control over quality and consistency across batches. For consumers, this means the story of the turmeric does not disappear once it leaves the farm.
Supporting Women Farmers and FPOs
Farmer empowerment is an important part of the Geethas approach. Along with working with more than 1,000+ farmers, Geethas gives special attention to women farmers and Farmer Producer Organisations.
The idea is to create opportunities that extend beyond cultivation and contribute towards greater financial stability and long term sustainability for farming communities. This makes the relationship between Geethas and its farmers more than a conventional buyer seller connection. It becomes part of a larger ecosystem built around turmeric.
From Farmers to Families
Ultimately, the work done at the farm level reaches the family sitting at the dining table. The turmeric cultivated by farmers becomes the raw material for our products that are used in everyday kitchens and routines.
Geethas brings this turmeric journey forward through products such as its turmeric powder, Curcumeal and First Drink, each created around the idea of making turmeric a simple part of everyday life.
Whether it is turmeric used in cooking, a spoonful of Curcumeal or a warm cup of First Drink, there is a farmer and a much longer supply chain behind that everyday experience.
More Than Sourcing Turmeric
For Geethas, working with farmers is not simply about finding turmeric to use in its products. It is about building a relationship with the people at the beginning of the supply chain and creating a system where quality and farmer wellbeing can develop together.
From responsible cultivation and careful post harvest handling to quality checks, traceability and processing, every stage contributes to the final product. Because when you care about the quality of what reaches a family, you have to care about where it begins.
A Journey That Starts With the Soil
The next time you add turmeric to your food, it is worth remembering that its journey began long before it reached your kitchen. It began with a farmer preparing the soil, planting the crop, caring for it and eventually harvesting the turmeric.
At Geethas, that journey continues through sourcing, post harvest handling, testing and processing before the turmeric reaches families.
From farmers to families, every step matters.
And for Geethas, quality is not something added at the end.
It is something built into the journey from the very beginning.
